Save and restore Chrome tab groups with their names and colours
A window you have arranged into tab groups is work. Stowback saves it as it is and opens it again the same way.
Coming soon to the Chrome Web StoreHow
- Click the Stowback button in the toolbar, or press Alt+Shift+D to save the window you are in at once.
- In the panel, press Save on a window. It becomes a snapshot, named after what it holds; rename it if you like.
- Later, open Saved and press Open. The window comes back in a new window.
What you get
- Tab order, pinned tabs, group names, colours and folded state come back, and so does the tab that was in front.
- You can also save every window at once, only the tabs you selected in the tab strip, or a single group.
- From a snapshot you can open everything, one group, or one tab, and add it to the window you are in instead of a new one.
- More than 15 tabs are opened unloaded: each tab is in its place with its title and loads when you click it.
- Snapshots are unlimited on the free plan and are never removed by the extension.
Limits worth knowing
- What you typed into a page, scroll positions, the back button’s history and ended sign-ins are not saved.
- Private (incognito) windows are never saved.
- Chrome refuses a few kinds of address when an extension opens them. Those are listed for you after a restore, not dropped silently.
- A window saved on a screen that is no longer connected opens where Chrome places it.
This is part of the free plan. See pricing.
