Pluckdown privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-10-11
What this covers
Pluckdown is a browser extension made by TheSocialForks ("we"). This policy explains what the extension, and the pages that sell it, do with your data.
It covers Pluckdown only. The TheSocialForks platform has its own policy at thesocialforks.com/privacy.
The short version
- The extension reads a page only when you ask it to.
- What it captures stays on your device. We do not receive it. The only server the extension talks to checks license keys, and captured content is never sent to it.
- There are no ads and no tracking in the extension.
What the extension reads
When you click the toolbar button, press a shortcut, or use the right-click menu, the extension reads the content of the tab you are on and turns it into text. If you turn on "Access to all sites", it can also read other tabs, but still only when you ask it to (for example with "Add open tabs").
Where your data is kept
Captures, packs, recipes and settings are stored in your browser, on your device. You can delete them at any time in History, Pack and Settings, or by removing the extension.
If you turn on settings sync (a Pro option), your settings and recipes are stored in your browser's own sync storage, which is run by your browser vendor under your browser account. Captures and packs are never synced.
Network requests the extension makes
The extension makes only these requests:
- License check. If you activate a license key, the key and a label for your browser (such as "Chrome on MacIntel") are sent to our server at api.thesocialforks.com to confirm it is valid. This is repeated about once a day. People who never activate a key never contact it.
- Requests to the site you are capturing. To read some content the extension asks the same site for it, using your existing session: a video's transcript, a document's export, or other pages of the same site when you use "Capture a site section". These requests go only to the site you are on.
Captured content is never sent to us or to any third party by the extension. When you paste or insert a prompt into an AI service, that service receives it under its own privacy policy.
Buying Pro
Purchases are paid through Razorpay, our payment processor, which collects your payment details and the phone number and email address you enter at checkout under its own privacy policy. In our Razorpay account we can see the record of your purchase: your email address and phone number, what you bought, the amount, the date, and the payment method with the last four digits of a card. We use that record to answer support requests, give refunds, and meet tax and accounting duties, and keep it for as long as those duties require. We never see or store your full card number.
Your license
When you pay, our server creates your license key. For each license it stores:
- the key and the plan you bought;
- Razorpay's reference for the purchase (a payment or subscription ID), which it uses to ask Razorpay whether the purchase is still in force;
- for each browser you activate the key on, a label such as "Chrome on MacIntel" and the date.
It does not store your name, email address, phone number or card details with the license, and nothing you capture ever reaches it. A license record is kept for as long as the license exists. You can free the browsers a key is active on yourself, on the manage page.
Prices by location
To show prices in your currency, our server looks up the country of your internet address when you open the pricing or the checkout, in a database kept on the server itself (IP Geolocation by DB-IP), so the address is not sent to anyone for this. India pays in rupees and everywhere else in US dollars; an address that can't be placed pays in US dollars. The answer is not stored with your license.
These pages
The pages under thesocialforks.com/extensions/pluckdown are part of the TheSocialForks website, and its cookie policy applies to them. Razorpay's checkout, which opens on top of the buy page, sets its own cookies. Like any web server, ours records the internet address, time and address of each request in its access logs for a limited time, as described in the main policy.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by writing to the address below. We answer within 30 days. Deleting a license record ends that license. We may have to keep purchase records that tax law requires.
How information from pages is used
What Pluckdown reads from the pages you capture is used only to give you the features described here. It is not sold, not passed to anyone else, not used for advertising, and not used to judge creditworthiness or for lending.
